Ascend Pediatric Therapy
Founded by Emily Sater, OTR/L in Coeur d'Alene, this practice offers DMI therapy including 1-week and 2-week intensive programs for families in northern Idaho and the Pacific Northwest. Sessions run once or twice daily, Monday through Friday, and Ascend recommends twice-daily sessions for more practice with each challenge.

DMI-certified therapists in Idaho
DMI is a technique individual therapists train in, not something a clinic holds as a whole. So the useful question isn't only which clinic to call, it's who there is trained and to what level. Here is what is publicly confirmed.
Emily Sater, OTR/L
Owner and primary therapist at Ascend Pediatric Therapy in Coeur d'Alene. She completed her occupational therapy degree at the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences and states she holds several DMI certifications. She founded Ascend specifically to provide DMI intensive therapy, serving northern Idaho, Spokane, and the inland Northwest.
Ascend runs DMI intensives of one to two weeks, five days a week, with sessions once or twice daily at 55 minutes each.
Certification levels matter. Only therapists who have completed DMI Introductory Level C may offer an official DMI Therapy Intensive, and therapists below that level are required to disclose their training level. Asking is normal and a good clinic will answer plainly.
This list is incomplete. Idaho almost certainly has DMI-trained therapists we haven't found, and DMI training is not always advertised. If you know an occupational or physical therapist in Idaho with DMI training, tell us and we will look into adding them.

Best for: Families in northern Idaho seeking DMI therapy, especially intensive programs. Ascend was founded specifically to fill a gap in DMI intensive therapy for the Pacific Northwest. Their 1-week and 2-week DMI intensives (sessions once or twice daily, Monday through Friday) are designed for children with Down syndrome, cerebral palsy, global developmental delay, hypotonia, genetic disorders, and acquired brain injuries.

Talk to your pediatrician
Start with your child's doctor. They can provide referrals and help determine which type of therapy is most appropriate, including DMI.
Contact early intervention
If your child is under 3, Idaho's Infant Toddler Program offers free developmental screenings and evaluations.
Request a school evaluation
For school-age children, you can request an evaluation through your local school district to determine if your child qualifies for services through an IEP or 504 plan.
Research private clinics
