Step by Step

How to get your child evaluated

Not sure where to start? Here is a simple roadmap for getting your child the evaluation they need, including for DMI therapy.

1

Talk to your pediatrician

Start with your child's doctor. They can provide referrals and help determine which type of therapy is most appropriate, including DMI.

2

Contact early intervention

If your child is under 3, Idaho's Infant Toddler Program offers free developmental screenings and evaluations.

3

Request a school evaluation

For school-age children, you can request an evaluation through your local school district to determine if your child qualifies for services through an IEP or 504 plan.

4

Research private clinics

Private therapy clinics often have shorter wait times and can provide more specialized or intensive services including DMI therapy. Check with your insurance for in-network providers.

Finding DMI therapy in Idaho

Idaho has two clinics with DMI-certified therapists, listed above. Our guide to what to ask before booking will help you evaluate either one.

About this site

Idaho DMI is an independent, non-commercial resource. It is not run by a clinic, it has no financial relationship with any provider listed here, and it accepts no advertising or referral fees. There is nothing to buy and no form to fill out. It exists because Dynamic Movement Intervention is not well known in Idaho, and families whose children haven't progressed with conventional therapy deserve to know it's an option worth asking about.

Information here is drawn from DMI's official training organization and published clinical literature, and is linked to its sources so you can check it yourself. Nothing on this site is medical advice. Always talk with your child's pediatrician or therapist before starting a new therapy.
